Publications and Recordings

The Society has produced a variety of instructional books which are available from Headquarters, or the local branch. These range from small pocket editions (suitable for tucking into your sporran and taking along to the dance) to full size books containing both the dance instructions and music.

Each member receives a dance book as their subscription copy, and "multi-member" householders are given the option to receive an alternative book of their choice.

Recordings are available for most of the publications in either CD or cassette format, and the remaining cassettes are being steadily transferred to digital format. Each CD or cassette provides the music to accompany the dance instructions printed in the Books and we have also a small range of compilation CDs containing a selection of the most popular dances.

A more recent development has been the introduction of instructional videos which accompany the books and recordings to allow dancers to follow the dance at their own pace. Each dance is danced through once accompanied by the music.
