RSCDS Shop

There is a wide variety of publications, recordings and other dancing accessories available for purchase from the Society. Listed below are a few of the more popular books. A full Publications List is available in the shop.

Collins Pocket Reference to Scottish Country Dancing
This is an invaluable companion for anyone interested in reeling, ceilidh or popular Scottish country dances. The book gives a brief history of the Society, gives hints on dance etiquette and the differences between the dance forms and contains 100 of the most popular dances. There are two CDs to accompany this book.
An Introduction to Scottish Country Dancing
A great book to get you started understanding the terminology of Scottish country dancing. This is likely to be of use to those learning the basic steps and formations found in this dance form.
Miss Milligan's Miscellanies Vol I and Vol II
Many of the dances in these volumes are suitable for the newcomer and less experienced dancers, and contain useful opening notes to each dance.
Thirty Popular Scottish Country Dances
This is a superb collection of thirty of the more well known Scottish country dances. It includes dances such as The Reel of the 51st Division, Petronella, The Duke of Atholl's Reel, Hamilton House, Monymusk, and Sugar Candie.
Pillings "Green Book"
Not for the fainthearted. This book contains dances in diagramatic form. Each formation being depicted by a character or symbol. Ideal as an aide-memoire for the slightly more experienced dancer.

We have a selection of recordings available on CD and cassette. These include compilations of old favourites - popular dances like The Dashing White Seargent and The Duke of Perth - as well as music for all dances published in the RSCDS books.

Schools Packs are an ideal way to encourage younger children to take up Scottish country dancing. We have four packs which include a booklet, and tape. The tape contains the instructions for a variety of easier dances and is accompanied by the appropriate music. The final pack is a progression and along with some dance instructions contains a dance programme.
