Irene Bennett - RSCDS Chairman
Irene Bennett is the chairman of the RSCDS. She was elected as Chairman-elect in 2004 and became Chairman in 2006.
I felt greatly privileged on Saturday 4 November to be elected Chairman.
It is indeed an honour.
I have lived in St. Andrews most of my life. Having started dancing in primary school, I continued during my teenage years in the Girl Guides, and eventually joined my local branch (St. Andrews) in 1964.
I took my Teacher's Certificate in 1966 and thus became interested in branch committee work. For many years I was the branch representative on the RSCDS Executive Council, and in latter years my main interest was in the Publications and Research area, then Membership Services.
One of my aims during my term of office is to continue to find ways of improving our communications with members. With that mind I look forward very much to meeting many of you at the functions I shall be attending throughout the coming year.
