Elspeth Gray - RSCDS Secretary

Elspeth Gray is the Secretary of the RSCDS.

Elspeth

I joined the Society as the new Secretary/Administrator on 14 March 2000, and am delighted to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you. I have come to the Society from working for the Chartered Institute of Public Finance & Accountancy for 7 years, firstly as Client Liaison/Quality/Office Manager at their training centre in Edinburgh, and for the last year as Regional Marketing Manager for Scotland. Prior to that, I lived in Brighton for 10 years, working mostly in the health sector, with 6 years spent in a Health Promotion Unit as their Resources Adviser. The years before that were spent in a variety of jobs from secretarial work, being a Tourist Assistant in Edinburgh, to being an au pair in Sweden. I was born and brought up in Chapelhall, Lanarkshire, and went to school in Airdrie.  I have to confess my own experience of Scottish country dancing is limited to school days, but my parents have danced for many years.

I am very happy and feel very honoured to be following in the footsteps of some very worthy predecessors. It seems to me that the Scottish country dance "family" is a wonderful organisation, and it amazes me to think of all the people world-wide who have this shared pastime - indeed, for many, passion.

My thanks to the Chairman and Chair-elect, the wonderful team at 12 Coates Crescent, and to the many committee members, Society members and branches who have already made me feel so welcome.

I am always open to comments and suggestions, and hope you will need no further encouragement to contact me.

Best wishes,

Elspeth Gray
