Betty Cathcart
Betty Cathcart was awarded a scroll at the 2001 RSCDS AGM, nominated by West Renfrewshire Branch. Here is the citation which accompanied the presentation.
Betty has played the piano for junior and adult classes, school classes, church and seasonal dances for over 50 years. She is also one of the invited accompanists at the Inverclyde and Renfrew Musical Festival. She plays for dancers and not to dancers - in short, she can make the piano sing.
Betty has always promoted SCD, encouraging people of all ages to "have a go", and has taken RSCDS standards to the non-Society classes she has taught. A loyal and supportive member of the Branch, she has served on the committee for many years.
Betty began as a dancer but because of an illness was unable to continue. The Society lost a dancer but gained a teacher and pianist who very rarely misses any of her many weekly commitments. Truly a branch stalwart.
