Grace Lofthouse

Grace Lofthouse was awarded a scroll in 2001, nominated by Cape Town Branch. Here is the citation which accompanied the presentation. Unfortunately she was unable to attend the AGM to receive her scroll, so it was presented to her at a local meeting instead.

Known for many years as "Winkie" Jander, Grace is synonymous with SCD in Cape Town. She has been a tireless committee member since 1950 and served as Secretary for 14 years, during which time she instigated a regular monthly newsletter known as "The Royal Mail". Grace gained her full teachers certificate in 1977 with Miss Milligan.

Cape Town Branch has relied on Grace - always a gracious and gentle lady, who has 50 years of experience to call upon and share so generously with others. She has always given outstanding service to the Branch and striven throughout her life to maintain the standards of dancing and the traditions of the music/dance.

Well loved by Cape Town dancers, in appreciation Grace was elected Vice President of the Branch some 3 years ago.
