Scroll citation for Muriel More

Muriel More was awarded a scroll at the 2001 RSCDS AGM, nominated by Glasgow Branch. Here is the citation which accompanied the presentation.

As a pianist, Muriel has given unstinting and supportive service to Glasgow Branch and the RSCDS in all the capacities asked of her - classes, demonstrations, festivals and concerts - and after 40 or more years, continues to do so. She played for the Branch monthly Club nights for an unbroken period of almost 25 years.

Dancers at Summer School, and at day & weekend schools in UK and Europe, have all benefited from Muriel's talented playing, choice of tunes and her sense of rhythm. Her enthusiasm is infectious and an inspiration to all, whether it be SCD, highland or step.

For teachers, Muriel's keen awareness of the requirements of a class makes her an easy and helpful colleague, always seeking out the appropriate and traditional music for all occasions. She is a competent dancer, which adds to her appreciation of the dance. As a composer, she has several tunes to her name, one of which is Wateraid Jig.

Muriel's contribution to the enjoyment of our form of dance is immense. Her knowledge and her empathy with dancers truly combine to produce a stimulating and spirited experience. She readily gives of her time, help and encouragement whenever needed.
