Susanna Hegel

Susanna Hegel was awarded a scroll at the 2002 RSCDS AGM, nominated by Vienna Branch. Here is the citation which accompanied the presentation.

Susanna was introduced to SCD while on holiday in Scotland in 1960 and from the early 1970's she offered SCD as an optional afternoon activity at the secondary school where she worked. She started an evening class to encourage former pupils to pursue their hobby. Susanna has always encouraged her pupils to travel to SCD weekends and is herself a staunch supporter of RSCDS Summer School.

In March 2001 Susanna celebrated 30 years of SCD in Lower Saxony, 25 years of annual weekends in Lower Saxony and 20 years of annual SCD weekend in Gifhorn. The weekend began with a civic reception in the Town Hall and a speech by the Mayor praising Susanna's work over the years.
