Bobby Brown
Bobby has devoted his life to the playing, researching, arranging, recording and teaching Scottish Country Dance music. He maintains one of the few original manuscript libraries of traditional Scottish music in the world. The recordings and live appearances of his band have enabled Scottish Country Dancing to flourish not only in Canada, but also throughout the world.
Bobby gives music workshops to musicians (and others) at TAC Summer School, Thistle School in North Carolina, Vancouver, Toronto and to many teacher candidate classes.
Bobby has his own recording studio known as Brownrigg Productions and he has made more than 14 albums with "The Scottish Accent" and "The Cape Breton Symphony Fiddlers". Recently he recorded the music for Book 12 for the Society. His recordings are used extensively by RSCDS teachers across the globe.
For his excellence in the field of music, for his service to Scottish heritage, for his encouragement and training of young Scottish Country Dance Musicians, and for the pleasure he continues to bring to so many Scottish Country Dancers, Bobby Brown is a worthy recipient of this honour.
