Antonio (Tony) Moretti
Tony and his wife Betty started dancing in 1960 in the village Hall in Cleish, Kinross-shire and have not stopped yet. Their enthusiasm for Scottish Country Dancing was passed on to their two sons, who practiced at home with them until the whole family started attending classes. (Incidentally, both sons, and their wives, now also have teaching certificates!)
The family moved to the USA in 1963 and started dancing in the Boston area. Tony got his Preliminary Certificate in 1966 and the Full Certificate in 1967 and taught in Boston for 11 years.
Besides being a wonderful teacher with a great sense of humour, he has served Scottish Country Dancing in many ways: Branch President, Vice-President and guest teacher at many workshops. He has also written some delightful dances.
In 1991 Tony and Betty settled in Florida, where he is still teaching in Dunedin.
At Tony and Betty’s 50th Wedding Anniversary Celebration a three-couple set consisting of Tony & Betty, Anthony & Ann, and Freddie & Karen danced a special dance called the Moretti Shuffle.
