Dennis Tucker

A qualified teacher for twenty years, teacher of the Oxfordshire Branch for nineteen, and Oxford University for sixteen, Dennis is also a much sought-after teacher at Day Schools and Weekends in the south-east. Several of his pupils have themselves qualified as teachers.

He has worked with two groups of the disabled to give them experience of dancing and is currently helping a new group in Perm, Russia, to become established. He plans to lead a team there in 2007. He led the Branch’s contribution to an International Festival of Dance in Oxford in 2002, prepares demonstrations for local events and organises fund-raising dances for local charities.

He inspired Oxford to introduce its annual Day School, Summer Dance and Children’s Class, masterminded the production of the Oxford Jubilee Dancebook, with accompanying recording, and organised production, design and marketing of the tape Craigellachie in Oxford.

He has been on the Branch Committee for 24 years, nine as Chairman, and Secretary of the S.E. Branches Co-ordinating Committee since its early days, helping to organise several major events.

Dennis is a vigorous proponent of the Society and his enthusiasm has spread to the membership of an energetic Branch which supports Society activities in large numbers.
