The Society holds an annual Summer School in St Andrews, Scotland. Approximately one thousand dancers from around the world attend this School each year to learn more about the dancing and dances, old and new; to enjoy dancing together; and to appreciate the wealth of Scotland's traditional music. Summer School 2012 dates: Week 1 15July to 22 July Week 2 22 July to 29 July Week 3 29 July to 05 Aug Week 4 05 Aug to 12 Aug If you are considering a visit to Summer School this year, then signing up as a resident, through the RSCDS, could be the best choice. For 2012, St Andrews University is changing their booking classification which means that non-residents will be charged a day delegate rate. This will mean a considerable increase in fees for those attending on that basis. The Society has negotiated with the University to cap the day delegate rate at £15 per day (which includes lunch) for 2012, but this will rise to over £30 per day in 2013 and beyond. However, registering as a resident can offer better value overall by offering more opportunities to join in and fully appreciate the whole Summer School experience, in particular the popular social side of Summer School. We hope that you will be able to consider and take advantage of this option. Should you wish to book accommodation, we would ask you to do this through HQ in order to guarantee the best rate and to avoid any possible confusion by the University over non-residential fees. The morning class descriptors have been changed for 2012; for guidance on which class to choose please click here Another change for 2012 is a move to McIntosh Hall. Our usual base, University Hall, is being renovated and therefore the venue is not available this year. Please note that McIntosh Hall does not have private bathrooms, therefore anyone wishing an en-suite room should book accommodation in New Hall. Please note that the fees currently shown are discounted. This “early bird” discount will last until 31st March, when full fees will be payable.
