Summer School
There is a range of scholarships
available from the Jean Milligan Memorial
Fund and other sources to members attending Summer School. Seven/eight
scholarships, which cover
residential fees and examination fees (where applicable), are currently
available each year.
Teaching certificate
Three two-week
scholarships are available
for members wishing to take either Teaching Certificate part 1 or
Teaching Certificate part 2. Under the terms of one of the awards, the
Duncan McLeod Scholarship,
preference will be given to candidates undergoing teacher training,
preferably in Physical Education.
General Scholarships
Two general
one-week scholarships are
offered to members wishing to attend Summer School as dancers, or on the
Musicians’ Course.
Youth Scholarships
Five one-week scholarships
(including the Derek Haynes Award) are offered annually to members aged
16-30 years, who wish to attend Summer School, as dancers or on the
Musician’s Course. Preference will be given to those in full time
education who have not previously attended Summer School.
The John Duckett Scholarship
A one-week Scholarship for
dancers is funded by the proceeds from the “Green Book”. Preference
will be given to full-time students aged 16-25.
Scholarship application
forms are available either here,
from your local Secretary and a recommendation from the Branch must
accompany each application.
A Branch may submit only one recommendation for each scholarship,
although applications
for more than one scholarship
may be considered.THE APPLICATION FORM MUST BE RETURNED TO
HEADQUARTERS BY 26 NOVEMBER.
Spring Fling
Scholarships are offered annually. The scholarships are open to members of the
RSCDS and to non-members. Applicants should be under 35. Preference will be
given to those under 25.
Youth
Youth
scholarships are offered to young dancers who are under the age of 20 years and who wish to attend youth events,
classes, schools or workshops run by any branch of the RSCDS anywhere in the
world. Preference will be given to those
under 17 - Only residential and course fees are covered
by the Scholarships; travelling expenses are not covered.
