Magazine deadlines Print

Unfortunately, the copy deadline for the next issue was omitted from Scottish Country Dancer #16. Please note that the next issue of Scottish Country Dancer will be published in October 2013. Contributions should be sent to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it by 1st August.

As Rosemary noted in the Editorial of issue #16, “Our next issue, of course, will be devoted in part to celebrating the 90th anniversary of the RSCDS. Many members will remember Miss Milligan. They do not all live in Scotland, as Miss Milligan’s missionary journeys to various parts of the world continued up to the late 1970s. If you have memories of her, please consider writing to us.” And we always welcome members’ communications about any issues relating to Scottish country dancing!

Contributions to the ‘From around the world’ section are welcome from all branches and groups – anything from a couple of sentences to about 300 words, if possible illustrated by a photograph or two. Please send these to Helen - This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it – preferably by 24th July so she can organise them in a logical fashion before herself meeting the Editor’s deadline.

Book 48 - latest news Print

Book 48 (March 2013)

The paper sift for the Book 48 dances is complete. Of the 160 considered in the sift, 103 have met the minimum criteria (48 strathspeys, 29 reels and 26 jigs) and these are being issued to Branches to evaluate. The response to our call for Branches to participate in the evaluation has exceeded our expectations, and 108 Branches are taking part  – this represents a 40% increase on the number that took part in the Book 47 evaluation. Branches should receive their batches for evaluation by 15th March.  Any questions about the Book 48 process should be directed to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
