Guidelines for Invigilators
GENERAL- Two invigilators should be used for every examination.
- Candidates must leave jackets/coats, books and any bags other than handbags in a designated area of the room, away from desks.
- Candidates must remain in the room until the examination is finished.
- If a candidate feels unwell during the examination, one invigilator must leave the room with the candidate before taking whatever action s/he feels is appropriate.
START- Ensure that all candidates are present.
- Ensure that candidates have writing paper and pens.
- Break seal and open envelope 5 minutes before scheduled start of examination.
- Check that there are sufficient copies of the examination papers.
- Distribute papers, face down, on candidates' desks.
- At the scheduled time, instruct candidates to turn over papers and begin.
END- Inform candidates when there are 30 minutes remaining.
- Inform candidates when there are 10 minutes remaining.
- At scheduled time, instruct candidates to stop writing.
- Gather in papers and place in prepared envelope. Ensure they are held in a safe place until given to the examiners/pass to appropriate person.
