Key HQ staff
• Craig Jackson, Examinations and Youth officer, who deals with all examination administration and is the keeper of the “book “ of documents and regulations regarding the exams.
• Jill Petri, Schools Administrator, plays a key role in ensuring that the application and booking processes for Summer and Winter Schools run smoothly.
What do we do?
• We meet four times annually, but do a lot of work in between meetings.
• We all have responsibility to the Management Board for…
• Regular review of the exam system, medal tests and DPA.
• Provision and review of training and assessment for teachers, tutors, examiners, adjudicators and medal test assessors.
• Making available development opportunities and encouraging RSCDS teachers and musicians to take part...
We are also responsible for providing support for the teaching, training and induction of a wide range of specific groups, e.g. children, youth, beginners, examination candidates, tutors, adjudicators, mentors, examiners, schools etc.
• Standing items on the agenda are: RSCDS action plan, publicity and marketing, response to members Forum from the AGM
• We work with the Membership Services committee on some publications. We also collaborate on questions arising out of points of technique. (The Technique Panel)
• Helen, Bruce and Ann deal with Examinations policy and review, kept in order by Craig
• David, Deb and Louise cover teaching resources, support and continuing development for teachers and musicians
• John, Janet and Di look at matters arising out of policy for schools and have further separate meetings with depute directors of Summer School, Winter School Co-ordinator and Helen to plan the specific details of Winter and Summer Schools, such as timetabling and staffing.
• Jayne, who is Youth Director, has a large brief, including Spring Fling, and is helped by Lucy, who is taking on responsibility for checking internet youth SCD sites. Non voting and working for Jayne in the new post of Events Co-ordinator is Margo Priestley. Di Rooney is also lending her design skills to kit out the Youth Demonstration team.
