Scholarships


Summer School

There is a range of scholarships available from the Jean Milligan Memorial Fund and other sources to members attending Summer School. Scholarships cover residential and examination fees (where applicable).

Teaching Certificate Scholarships:

Scholarships are available for members wishing to take either TeachingCertificate part 1 or Teaching Certificate part 2. Under the terms of oneof the awards, the Duncan McLeod scholarship, preference will begiven to candidates undergoing teacher training, preferably in PhysicalEducation.

General Scholarships:

General scholarships are offered to Members wishing to attend Summer School as dancers, or on the Musicians’ Course (including the Kitty McLaughlin Award).

Youth Scholarships:

Scholarships (including the Derek Haynes Award) are offered annually to Members aged 16-25 years, who wish to attend Summer School, as dancers or on the Musician’s Course. Preference will be given to those in full time education who have not previously attended Summer School.

The John Duckett Scholarship:

One Scholarship for dancers is funded by the proceeds from the “Green Book”. Preference will be given to full-time students aged 16-25 years.

Alastair Aitkenhead Scholarship

Two scholarships are offered annually, one to a Member aged 16 – 25 years, who wishes to attend Summer School, as dancer, for the first time; the second to a dancer between 12 and 16 years, preferably attending for the first time. N.B. Both dancers must be resident on the course.

Scholarship application form is available either here or from your local Secretary, and a recommendation from the Branch must also accompany each application.

A Branch may submit only one recommendation for each scholarship, although applications for more than one scholarship may be considered. THE APPLICATION FORM MUST BE RETURNED TO HEADQUARTERS BY 17TH NOVEMBER 2017.

Spring Fling

Scholarships are offered annually. The scholarships are open to members of the RSCDS and to non-members alike. Applicants should be under 35, and preference will be given to those under 25.

Youth

Youth scholarships are offered to young dancers who are under the age of 20 years and wish to attend youth events, classes, schools or workshops run by any branch of the RSCDS anywhere in the world. Preference will be given to those under 17, and only residential and course fees are covered by the Scholarships; travel expenses are not covered.
