Berkhamsted Strathspey and Reel Club

Berkhamsted Strathspey and Reel Club are celebrating their 70th Anniversary at their Highland Ball on 21st May 2022 with Sandy Nixon and his Scottish Dance Band. The programme is made up of popular dances from Balls in the last 70 years and includes a ballroom dance that was an element of Ball programmes for many years.

Being a Highland Ball there is also a Foursome Reel - in the early years of the club at some Balls this featured twice in one evening as did the Eightsome Reel! Also on the programme is a dance specially devised to celebrate the anniversary by Jane and Brian Rose titled The Berkhamsted Medley.

For the anniversary year a club tartan has been devised and some club members will be wearing kilts or sashes in the tartan while the hall will be decorated in drapes of the tartan along with fine display of shields representing the current and past Presidents of the Club. The Club is looking forward to welcoming some of the founders of the Club at the event as well as many friends from the region.

While the Ball is the highlight of the Platinum Anniversary year, celebrations started with 80 club members and friends at the Valentine Dance and will continue with a club Summer Dance and Hog Roast in July, followed by a Nice and Easy dance in December. For more information, visit the club website - www.berkhamstedreelclub.org.
