Branch profile

The RSCDS Cheshire Branch was founded by Isobel and Jim Fyfe in 1984. We meet weekly, on Wednesday evenings during term time, September to July, in the Tarporley Community Centre.

We are fortunate in having three qualified teachers and offer classes at basic techniques, intermediate and a more advanced level.

Several of our members are regular attenders at RSCDS Summer and Winter Schools and we also send two delegates to the Autumn Gathering and Annual General Meeting in November.

Regular events on our Calendar include:

- Annual New Year Dance
- Two Nice & Easy Dances (summer & autumn)
- Annual Visitor's Evening
- Annual Day School (alternating between Intermediate & Advanced levels)
- Summer Social Dancing weekly during June and July

We dance at local events to attract new members, these include summer carnivals and also St Andrew's Night and Burns Night events (the latter with local Beaver, Cubs and Brownies Groups).

They organise and run classes, dances and other social events in their own areas and are committed to helping develop Scottish Dance and Music for future generations.

We encourage you to try Scottish Country Dancing for yourself to see just how much fun it can be, so please come along and learn how to 'Dance Scottish'.

Wherever you are in the world there is most likely Scottish Country Dancing.
