AGM & Conference Weekend 2019

A weekend of dancing and discussion

The Conference weekend sees the largest number of dancers for any single RSCDS event gather over a weekend in Perth, Scotland. Some 500 dancers, principally from the UK, North America and continental Europe, take part in classes, discussion forums and workshops. Whether attending as delegates or spectators, all enjoy the social events which surround the business of the AGM. Choose a dance or informal Ceilidh (open to all) on the Friday ahead of Saturday evening’s civic reception and grand ball.

Friday

Kicking off the AGM & Conference Weekend is the Teaching Conference, which runs from 10am until 4pm GMT. In the evening guests have the choice between a Ceilidh or a Country Dance, and if you like you can even go to both!

Please note that attendees will need to book their own accommodation. We suggest booking early as local establishments tend to sell out quite fast.

Programme

Come and join us on Friday 1st November in Bell's Sports Centre in Perth, for an all-day teaching conference.

All teachers (including those who do not hold the RSCDS qualification, but who teach SCD classes) are welcome.

The agenda and cost for the Teaching Conference will be available shortly.

Happening in the Coaching Hall this is sure to be a great time! Musician and caller TBD.

Happening in the Main Sports Arena, with a musician TBD.

Tea and coffee will be available at the interval and there will be bar service throughout the night. There is no dress code for this event.

Carrying on from the day's activities is the evening Formal Ball, where attendees dress their best for a civic reception and a night of brilliance.

Programme

A discussion with the Society's resident Archivist Alan Macpherson; time is TBD.

Beginning at 9:30am and located in the Coaching Hall, we invite all Members to this informal discussion where we can talk about Branch initiatives, and hear ideas from Members on what they have been doing locally.

Delegates representing most of the Society's 159 Branches come together to discuss the RSCDS, listen to updates by the Management Committees, and vote on any Motions put forward.

Kicking off at 2pm the AGM will be live streamed via the RSCDS YouTube channel for those unable to attend in person.

Please note: only Delegates & Proxies can speak and vote at the AGM. The public is allowed to attend, but they will not have Member privileges.

The highlight of the weekend for many! The Civic Reception and Formal Ball begins at 7pm in the Main Sports Arena and allows the opportunity for Members to get together, chat, unwind, and of course dance the night away.

This is a formal affair so we do ask that you come looking your best. For the civic reception wine will be served, and throughout the night there will be bar service.
