Basic Teaching Skills

This is best described as a course for those who are already leading/teaching, or about to take on a group, but who do not wish to sit the RSCDS teaching exams.

Attendance on the course will result in a “Record of Completion of a course in basic SCD Teaching skills”.

All of the elements listed in the Basic Teaching Skills document below will show a listing of various skills useful to any teacher. Those seeking to do this course may not require all of them in the same depth, so the most relevant can be selected for delivery, depending on the needs of the course members.

The RSCDS has developed guidelines for Branches that would like to run a Teaching Skills course, which can be downloaded below.

They organise and run classes, dances and other social events in their own areas and are committed to helping develop Scottish Dance and Music for future generations.

We encourage you to try Scottish Country Dancing for yourself to see just how much fun it can be, so please come along and learn how to 'Dance Scottish'.

Wherever you are in the world there is most likely Scottish Country Dancing.
