Member recognition

The RSCDS has two distinct means of ‘recognising’ members who have made a contribution to the work of the RSCDS and its Branches, both of which are outlined below.

Scroll of Honour

The highest accolade is the award of the RSCDS Scroll of Honour. This is awarded each year to a few individuals who have made an exceptional contribution, generally to the RSCDS at large/worldwide as well as locally.

Nominations for a Scroll can only come from Branches or RSCDS Management Committees, and forms must be submitted by 31st March each year.

A Chairman’s Panel then considers each nomination and approves it or not (i.e. nomination does not guarantee that it will be awarded). Successful nominees are then informed, as well as the nominating Branches, and the nominees are invited to receive their Scroll at the RSCDS's AGM in November (although often overseas nominees opt to receive their award locally).

Branch Award

The second option is the Branch Award. This is very straightforward and simply requires a Branch to decide that they wish to give an Award and then complete the necessary form; there is no process of consideration, every Award requested is made. Within two weeks of receiving an application for a Branch Award, a Certificate is sent to the Branch, signed by the Chairman (with space for Branch Chairman signature), which can then be presented by the Branch at whatever occasion they feel appropriate. Once we know that the Award has been presented, the Chairman writes a personal letter of congratulations to each recipient.

All Branch Award inquiries should be directed to Cecile Hascoet at the RSCDS office.
